Dish Soap
I struggled to find a dish soap I liked that was tough on grease but not too runny. Most recipes I tried were more like liquid soap than the gel-like texture we are all acquainted to. I wanted that same similar feel without all the chemicals. And this recipe was a happy compromise for me.
I found the key to thicker soap is the water temperature.
Heat the water to right before boiling for the best results.
The cleaner used in this recipe is Sal Suds. It is a safe bio-degradable and eco-friendly cleaner. It is Green Certified and has the A safety rating from the Environmental Working Group. It is made with plant-based surfactants and natural (fir needle and spruce) essential oils, without any synthetic dyes, fragrances or preservatives.
Ingredients
1/2 cup Water
1/2 cup Vinegar
1/2 cup Sal Suds
1 Tablespoon Sea Salt (NOT Redmonds)
25 Drops Lemon Essential Oil
Reusable Squeeze Bottles
Note: Instead of using lemon essential oil and regular vinegar, I use my lemon vinegar solution that's used to make my all-purpose cleaner.
Directions
Combine water and salt together. Mix until COMPLETELY dissolved.
Combine Sal Suds and vinegar together. Mix until fully combined.
Stir Sal Suds/vinegar with the salt water until thickened. It will thicken more as it sits.
Store in a squirt bottle
Note- I like to make enough to have a few squirt bottles on hand. Know that as the dish soap sits on the shelf without being inverted for awhile, the gel will settle to the bottom. This is ok, just mix it up real good before you use it. As you use it on a daily basis, the gel in the soap will stay more in suspension.
